When you think of beaded crafts the first thing you think about is beaded jewelry. Which makes sense its one of the most popular crafts out there next to sewing, knitting, crocheting, and scrapbooking. I wanted to share more crafts that you can use those stunning beads for. Not just for Jewelry but for home decor, bag accessories, and more. Some of these fun projects you may have thought of and some you may not have.
Below you will find not just unique beaded crafts but different versions of it for inspiration. As always make these your own, have fun with them, add your own favorite charms and colors. These are inspiration for when you want to make something special that you cannot find anywhere else. Especially because you cannot find many of these items in the big stores.
Beaded Jewelry
I know I said I would share other projects besides just jewelry but these are for my jewelry designers. Beaded jewelry has been around for centuries, and has representation in all cultures around the globe. The fun thing about making jewelry is the ability make it so unique, while beaded jewelry is the big category there are so many variations out there. For example you can make costume jewelry, statement jewelry, minimalist jewelry.
There are so many ways to make it your own, so many ways to work with the same materials as your friends and come out with something completely different. One of the best tips is that everything has multiple uses. Beaded earring findings can be used as a pendant instead of a chandelier earring. You can make bracelets with stretch cord or as coil bracelets (one of my favorites to make because they fit all wrist sizes).
When it comes to beaded jewelry, don't be afraid to get creative and try things that wouldn't normally go together. For example, I had these round earring findings that I had no idea what to do with or how to use them. Eventually I reallized I could use them like a hoop earring and add a charm in the center. I was able to create simple earrings that have limitless potential.
Beaded Suncatchers
This is a beaded craft that is on my to do list because it is stunning and there are so many variations and styles! You can make large elaborate ones with multiple layers of crystals and beads, or you can make small simple ones that hang in your car. I mean these are so underrated, they are gorgeous in the car, forget the trees you get at the car wash, make yourself a suncatcher. They add extra sparkle, light and beauty to any space they are put into. They can be made with wire to add shape and dimension. The opportunities are endless!
These suncatchers are so easy to make, just grab some wire or string add your beads a crystal at the bottom and boom! Or get fancy with it, make it a mobile or a windchime style. Hang these sunning beautys in the nearest window and be amazed!
Beaded Curtains
This next project is similar to the suncatchers, beaded curtains. Here me out, I know they seem like a difficult time consuming project, but they are so worth it. They look so good and they do the same job as a suncatcher. Hang this fun curtains in the windows and watch the crystal dance all around the room. You could also use them in doorways, against the walls like a tapestry. Make a smaller one for your desk at work. They are stunning and so much fun to make. If you want a challenge these are perfect for you!
Beaded Bookmarks
You know I love beaded bookmarks, they are easy and quick to make and there are different styles for everyone. For a tutorial on how to make them step by step check out my DIY Beaded Bookmarks story. They are so unique and make saving your spot in your favorite book look good. Truthfully these are a great project do with friends and family because they can be made in as little as 10 minutes and you can make multiple. I like to design mine to match my favorite books, that way each one has a unique bookmark. There are so many different metal bookmark hooks out there from mermaids to dragons, and dont get me started on charms, I have the worst time picking just one. So sometimes I use them all!
Beaded Bag Charms and Keychains
Another quick and easy beaded craft are bag charms and keychains! I start with a pendant that I love like a sunflower, and then add beaded elements that compliment it. They are so easy and fun to make! I love to add tassels and extra charms. So add a little sparkle to your purses and keys. Who said those everyday items can't be fun.
They are interchangeable as well, you make them into lanyard charms, bead key wristbands. If it was me I would bead the wristband with the large beads followed by keychains with smaller crystal beads.
These are only a few of the countless projects out there you can make. I hope these inspired you to get out there and try something new. You can make these for you or for your loved ones as gifts. You can make these in a variety of sizes and shapes the possibilities are endless. Don't forget to sign up for the mailing list to get emails when new posts come out!
